Migrants

Transcultural HIV- and Aids work– a service for people with a migration background.

Migration and health
People with a migration background are often faced with complex problems. There are often language barriers, serious psychosomatic illnesses and traumata, which make accessing the health service difficult. Our service is aimed at facilitating the access to assistance and advice for HIV-positive people with a migration background, as well as to reduce discrimination and stigmatization within the respective communities.

For whom?
All people with a migration background are very much welcome at Aidshilfe Düsseldorf.

What do we offer?
Advice and support in regards to HIV and Aids in English, German and Spanish in our own offices, as well as off site, for example at hospital. We are happy to assist you in health care matters, but also in regards to social, legal and financial questions. At your request, we will accompany you at meetings with the authorities and help you with filling out the respective application forms.

Why are we doing this?
The number of HIV-positive migrants at Aidshilfe Düsseldorf has increased significantly over the last few years. In Germany, people with migration backgrounds are the second largest group of people affected by HIV and Aids.

Visit Aidshilfe Düsseldorf?
Many find it incredibly difficult to seek Aids support. There is a lot of fear within the communities to be ostracized and stigmatized. At your request, we are also able to meet you outside of the Aidshilfe offices.

All our services are offered free of charge. We are obliged to secrecy and work on a trustworthy and confidential basis. The events and consultations can be provided in various languages. We are able to include language and cultural interpreters. Please contact us.

This service is kindly supported by Heartbreaker, the sponsor circle of Aidshilfe Düsseldorf e.V.
